The strategic value of satellites in defense
Satellites are a key element in ensuring the continuity of military operations and civil protection. Their capacity to offer connectivity without depending on terrestrial infrastructures makes satellite technology a crucial tool in remote scenarios, areas in conflict or affected by natural disasters.
In this context, Hispasat offers global coverage, end-to-end encrypted communications, high availability with 24/7 support, rapid deployment and a resilience that allows it to operate even under sabotage or cyber-attacks.
Tailor-made solutions for each operation
Our value proposition for the defense and security sector is based on flexibility, robustness and integration capacity. We offer different business models, from space capacity to turnkey solutions, including ground connectivity, mobile terminals, network management and technical support.
Among our featured solutions are:
• Tactical private networks with integrated Core and RAN, ready to deploy on the ground or on the move.
• Secure satellite telephony, with robust terminals, global coverage and anti-jamming protection.
• Telemedicine solutions, enabling remote medical care in isolated areas or field operations.
• Portable and mobile terminals, ideal for communications on the move (SAT On The Move) and for temporary deployments (SAT On The Pause).
• Surveillance and monitoring services in borders, coasts, critical installations and areas under tactical supervision.
Support in critical scenarios
Hispasat plays an essential role in crisis management and humanitarian operations. Thanks to satellite communications, we facilitate coordination between emergency bodies, operational continuity in key sites and connectivity for deployed forces. Our solutions also contribute to the well-being of troops through internet access, entertainment, remote training and administrative services.
Proven experience in the field
The effectiveness of Hispasat solutions in real-world environments has been validated over the years by different defense and security agencies in Europe and Latin America. Our experience includes operations on land, sea and air, both in defense contexts and in humanitarian and emergency management scenarios.
In Latin America, we stand out for our strategic role in Chile and Peru:
• In Chile, we work closely with the Army and SENAPRED (National Disaster Prevention and Response Service), deploying more than 40 MHz of satellite capacity that ensures operational continuity and connectivity in central and regional offices in critical situations. Our infrastructure supports the national contingency network, guaranteeing uninterrupted communications even in times of crisis.
• In Peru, we collaborate with the Navy, providing connectivity to the training ship B.A.P., which carries out cadet training, diplomatic representation and cultural promotion functions. We also provide services to the Itinerant Social Action Platforms (PIAS) and the Peruvian Air Force, guaranteeing secure communications in remote bases, and facilitating access to medical, administrative and educational services in isolated areas.
In Europe, we have implemented solutions for the Ministries of Defense in the United Kingdom and Germany, as well as with organizations such as the Vigili del Fuoco in Italy and the National Police in Spain. In all these cases, our solutions have proven their value in complex environments, helping to maintain smooth and secure operations in areas affected by emergencies, natural disasters, or with limited infrastructure.
We also collaborate with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) through long-term leasing of space capacity on our satellites.
In the maritime and coastal domain, we provide connectivity to:
• The Spanish Civil Guard, through the integration of communications in vehicles and corvettes that patrol the Mediterranean coast and reach as far as the Gulf of Guinea.
• Maritime Rescue, through satellite links in aircraft and vessels operating between the Peninsula, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde.
• The National Navy and DIMAR in Colombia, with fixed and mobile satellite services in bases, ships and surveillance units.
We have also implemented specific projects such as the forest fire prevention and early detection system in Portugal and Spain (Motor Verde project), connecting sensors and surveillance nodes in remote rural areas.
All these cases reflect our commitment to operational continuity, rapid emergency response and mission-critical communications security . The versatility of our technology, coupled with our proximity to users and 24/7 technical support, makes us a reliable partner for governments and security forces around the world.
Partner for sustainable security
Thanks to our fleet of 13 satellites in orbit and our network of 18 teleports, we guarantee a robust global infrastructure to support critical missions. Our collaboration with Hisdesat, through the Spainsat, XTAR-EUR and PAZ satellites, further extends our real-time response and observation capabilities.
At Hispasat, we are committed to the defense, security and well-being of nations, providing advanced technological solutions that enable connectivity where and when it is needed most.
