The use of satellite-based communications will see incredible growth in upcoming years thanks to the endless demand for connectivity in sectors like corporate networks. According to Euroconsult (Satellite Connectivity and Video Market, 2023), revenues from providing satellite-based capacity and communications services is expected to double between 2022 and 2032, reaching 24.8 billion dollars. These revenues will come from using the capacity of satellites located in geostationary orbits, at 35,786 kilometers over the equator with a fixed coverage area over the Earth due to their geosynchronous velocity, as well as from satellites in lower orbits, which require a constellation approach due to their non-geosynchronous velocity.

In this market sector, in which customers will demand the best solutions suited to their specific needs, it will be essential to offer a multi-orbit product that can take advantage of the best that satellite infrastructures have to offer, whether geostationary satellites or otherwise, and also do so in an intelligent manner to guarantee an efficient and robust final service.

Hispasat has therefore launched its new Multiorbit solution, which combines the best of GEO and LEO satellites thanks to the use of the most advanced SD-WAN technology for users in corporate, maritime, B2B and cellular backhaul environments. This hybrid solution optimizes the strengths of satellite communications, such as stability, security and global coverage, with greater redundancy and resilience, providing a more efficient use of satellite resources. Thanks to its customer-oriented design based on operational simplification, Multiorbit is an easily scalable, dynamic and flexible solution that enables custom-made definitions for every case.

In particular, Multiorbit can act as a load balancing tool, by managing the traffic in the most suitable orbit for the customer’s interest. In this case, the solution can be classified by VLAN or user groups (Multiorbit Basic) or also by assigning orbits based on the type of application and the critical nature of the traffic (Multiorbit Advanced). Regardless of how Multiorbit is used, the solution always features continual network monitoring and 24/7 specialized technical support.

Thanks to Multiorbit, Hispasat is adding a layer of versatility to its complete offer of solutions and services which is now essential in a market undergoing a rapid process of transformation.
