One of our main services is the backhaul of cellular networks via satellite, as the ground communications infrastructure must often be deployed in remote or disperse areas that, besides, lack proper connectivity. In the Americas we have connected more than 3,500 base stations that require ongoing monitoring so they can continue to operate correctly and do not cause failures that affect communications to entire areas.

But, what if this connectivity, in addition to being channeled towards these areas, was used to monitor the base stations? In fact, equipping these facilities with sensors thanks to satellite technology can be a perfect tool to monitor their status in a more efficient way.

Striving to offer the greatest amount of added value to its telco clients, Hispasat has designed a comprehensive solution for the remote management of these cellular phone sites, which combines the use of sensors with field work through satellite connectivity. The information that has been compiled is constantly fed to a cloud platform to optimize monitoring. This way, preventive and corrective actions can be applied quickly and efficiently.

In particular, Tower Insight can be bundled and it is scalable and customizable, including the deployment of sensors to monitor AC/DC power usage, access controls, motion and cooling, among other options. The solution can also include IP cameras. The platform can also be integrated with other client management tools via an API. This way, Tower Insight clients will be able to significantly reduce the number of unnecessary visits to inspect the status of their sites and can obtain ongoing monitoring data.
